This intermediate-level class gives an insight into Linda’s ‘Dance to Pilates’ series of classes, which she has developed with dancers who are in full time vocational dance training. However, the exercises can be used for all clients as they are familiar exercises that we all know and use in our everyday classes, but just with a slight dance influence! This class focuses on the inner range of recruitment for the abdominals, hip extensors and trunk extensors.

Linda trained at Bush Davies School a full time vocational dance school from the age of eleven. Whilst studying there she suffered a back injury resulting in her being introduced to Pilates as a way of rehabilitating her back from injury. Upon her recovery, Linda went on to have a successful dance career dancing with Alexander Roy London Ballet Theatre, London City Ballet and Weinner Ballet Theatre. She was also in the original cast for Cameron Macintosh’s Phantom of the Opera Tour. Once retired, Linda went on to retrain as a dance teacher on the Professional Dancers Teaching Diploma at the Royal Academy of Dance and then as a Pilates Teacher with Body Control Pilates. Her teaching career includes; Scottish Ballet Junior Associates, her own dance school EH Dance UK, Managing Director of The Pilates Place (Edinburgh), Gelabert Dance Company, Legat School of Dance and ‘Working Title Productions’, coaching Sam Angell who starred in the title role of ‘Billy Elliott’. Linda is part of the education tutor team for Body Control Pilates, specialising in studio equipment, Pilates for Children, Pilates for Dancers, and the Level 4 Pilates Adaptations course. She has also played an integral part in further course development, regularly presenting workshops, and was commissioned by Body Control Pilates to write the Pilates for Adolescent’s course and co-wrote the Dancers course with her husband Nathan Gardner. Linda was also an examiner for the Royal Academy of Dance for over 14 years, which enabled her to travel and guest teach around the world.
Her current work is at NRG Pilates and the Urdang Academy, which is a vocational dance training programme offering degree and diploma courses.
