We are delighted to welcome Jon to Body Control Pilates Central with his debut masterclass, in which he combines his experience as a professional footballer and coach with his Body Control Pilates training to look at how Pilates can play a pivotal role in preventing injuries for footballers.
You will ideally need several pieces of equipment for this class: a stretch/resistance band, large physio ball, small ball (overball or triadball), sitfit (wobble cushion) and a foam roller.

Jon is a professional football player who understands the pressure that both competitive sport and everyday life can place upon the body. Over the course of his career, Jon has been fortunate to be a part of title and promotion winning teams, as well as earning individual honours and representing my country as part of the England C Team.
As with so many athletes, Jon suffered a number of injuries that could have severely impacted his performance and entire career. Pilates helped him throughout every period of rehabilitation to return a stronger, more mobile and better-conditioned athlete. The tangible benefits led to its regular incorporation within his fitness and maintenance program, facilitating injury prevention and allowing him to maintain peak performance levels even in these later stages of my playing career.
In 2015, Jon decided to use his experience to help others in a similar position and embarked on his training to become a Body Control Pilates teacher. Since qualifying as Matwork teacher, Jon has gone on to carry out his Reformer training and has attended many other Body Control Pilates training courses.
Jon now teaches as Ashton Pilates and focuses on helping athletes and people from all sectors and backgrounds - www.ashtonpilates.com.
